Brought back by popular demand Alec Bradley Cigar’s is releasing their now annual St. Patrick’s Day cigar and they’re on the way to retailers! The cigars are called Black Market Filthy Hooligan Barber Pole a limited edition cigar and an offshoot of the company’s Black Market line of cigars. This year’s 2017 version of the Filthy Hooligan is the same blend as last year’s and sure to be another hit. Director of sales and marketing for Alec Bradley is Jonathan Lipson and he says this specific blend of cigar is wrapped in a dark, green colored candy cane-style Nicaraguan wrapper adorned with a shamrock-colored Honduran candela leaf. “Last year’s version was immensely popular. We kept receiving emails, lots of emails,” Lipson said in a phone conversation with Cigar Aficionado. “Everyone wanted to know, ‘When is the Filthy Hooligan coming out? Are you releasing it again this year?’ ” Apart from the eye-catching wrapper combination, Black Market Filthy Hooligan Barber Pole also contains an Ecuadoran Sumatra binder on top of Panamanian and Honduran filler leaf. It’s a medium-bodied, full-flavored smoke that explodes on the palate with sweet tobacco flavors countered by the brawnier core leaves, like a good Irish stout. Production is again handled by Tabacos de Oriente in Danlí, Honduras Just like last year, this years’ cigar is arriving at retailers in a single 6 inch by 50 ring gauge Toro format. The cigars are priced at $8.50 per cigar and ship in green-and-black striped boxes of 22.
