For the cigar smoker, the cutter is an indispensable tool. The three basic cuts are the straight cut, the wedge cut and the punch. The straight cut requires a single or double blade guillotine or a cigar scissors. The guillotine is preferred for convenience, while the scissors for precision. A wedge cutter does not remove the cap completely, but rather makes a V-shaped wedge into it. With a punch, a hole is made in the cap instead of cutting the edge. The punch must make a hole large enough so that smoke flows through, but still prevents accumulation.
