2016 Cigar of the Year – Crux du Connoisseur No. 2

Well, isn’t that ironic. The Cigar Coop Cigar of the year award for 2016 goes to a cigar called the Crux du Connoisseur No. 2. There?s nothing second about this cigar as it is considered No. 1 in many cigar aficionados humidors. The cigar launched in 2015 at the IPCPR trade show and the spread to the stores by the start of 2016.

Jeff Haugen and Joel Rodgers are Crux Cigar Company owners and Tobacco Grove in Maple Grove, Minnesota. The pair has partnered with the Placencia factory in Esteli, Nicaragua, to produce their brand. Instead of a Nicaraguan binder and a Honduran filler, this blend assimilates a wrapper from Jalapa. From the Placencia factory in Esteli, Nicaragua, The Crux du Connoisseur No.2 delivers notes of coffee, natural tobacco, cedar, nut, and red pepper. While enjoying this fantastic smoke, these flavors will compliment each other wonderfully, while the slightly creamy texture will provide a nice kick.
